"Blizzard" 2010

Only in the south could you call this amount of snow a "blizzard." My northern friends will laugh out loud at this post. We got about 2-3 inches of snow on Friday. It was enough to paralyze the city, close schools early and make the hospital a zoo. Between the call-ins and the people rushing to the hospital on the off chance they would go into labor and nt eb able to get here....chaos ensued. But for the children a winter wonderland.....awe and amazement. Here is some of our fun!

Who needs an appendix anyway?

So yesterday I had a bit of abdominal pain....kinda blew it off. Just like any good nurse would do. But in all honesty it was hurting pretty bad. Took a bunch of OTC meds and went to bed early. Nothing a little rest can't fix. Perhaps my body was revolting after the 114 hours I clocked the last 2 weeks. ...yea that's all it was. Slightly elevated temp last night...99.7 Took a Tylenol and off to sleep. Felt a little better this AM or so I thought...got up extra early in case I didn't think I'd make it to work....which I did not not. I ended up at the OB's office...like a good nurse I don't have a regular doctor....well 2 hours and an ultrasound later....he thinks its my appendix. He told me to go home and rest which is what I am doing and to eat a liquid diet today. If it hurts more go to the ER otherwise it'll get better. Why do we even have an appendix anyway?

Parker's New School

Parker started at a new daycare this past week....we call it school. He was ready and super excited. This place is AMAZING. If you are looking for a new daycare look no further than The Learning Experience (TLE) There are 3 in Atlanta....Woodstock, Cumming and Acworth. They have an awesome curriculum. They are teaching Parker how to read and write using phonics and they play cool games and sing songs. he has never been so happy and his verbal skills are improving rapidly. He was always an amazing talker but he now is understanding the letter sounds and telling me all kinds of words that start with the letters they are working on. he even brings home his work on Fridays so we can review it and see exactly what they are doing. They have parent teacher conferences twice a year so you know how your child is progressing....this is like real school. So sorry to Parker for the crappy school and thanks to TLE for being so amazing!

Who's Will?

Standing in the line to check out at Walmart today Parker tells me he is strong. I say "You sure are (and under my breath...) strong willed" He looks at me and with a straight face says" Who's Will?"

Will You Be My Girlfriend?

Parker has a friend named Ashley. Ashley's mom and I work together at Northside. Ashley and Parker have been friends since they were babies. They went to the same daycare....that is until Parker left daycare in May to be home with Daddy. Parker started at a new daycare on Jan 4th. And on the 11th Ashley and her baby sister started there too. The kids couldn't be more excited. They just adore each other. They are in the 3 year old class together and in the fall will be in the same Pre-K class. All last week Parker was telling his teacher that his "girlfriend" was coming on Monday. Miss Ivy and Miss Amy knew all they needed to know about Ashley....and no doubt they knew she was Parker's. So Monday comes and Ashley comes to school. Parker tells Ashley that she is his girlfriend. Apparently this did not sit too well with Ashley. My little Peanut comes home from school and with the saddest face I have seen and tells me that Ashley told him she was not his girlfriend. I kinda just blew it off and said "Yeah Buddy she's your friend its OK" But he was not hearing it. So tonight Ashley's' mom called me to see where Parker was today. He didn't go to daycare because he had a dentist appointment I explained. She then proceeded to tell me Ashley was kinda hesitant to go to school because she didn't see Parker there. Funny I tell her because of the story Parker told me. I told Ashley's mom the story and she begins to laugh. Apparently Ashley's daddy has informed her she is not allowed to date until she is out of high school. Ashley had apparently told Parker that she couldn't be his girlfriend because "They weren't old enough" Ahh to be a 3 year old. Too sweet for words.

COLD

Its is freezing cold here. It is ridiculous. But on the bright side the weather caused some people to be unable to get to work safely which in turn allowed me to pick up some very needed extra hours and for this I am grateful. So thank you universe for once again helping me out.....but I'm good now so if you could warm it up about 40 degrees that would be swell.
