Christmas 2009

Christmas 2009 spent by me at the hospital with the babies. It was a boring day....but that was fine by me. Parker was awoken early by Tony and I. I just had to see his face when he opened his gift from Santa....priceless. We woke him up and asked him if he had heard Santa come...he said No. We asked him if he wanted to go see if there was something under the tree....he slowly walked to the edge of the stairs and peered over the railing....beneath the tree lay one gift....with "PARKER" on it. He ran down the stairs...stopped to notice the cheese...left for Cheddar...and the cookies and milk left for Santa were gone. Then over to the tree..."this one has my name on it!" He tore it open and with the face of shock and innocence proclaimed....."THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I ASKED FOR!!!" Isn't Santa awesome?! Hoping all of you had a wonderful Christmas.

Chanukkah 2009

Tonight is the last night of Chanukkah. It has been a pretty good one....all things considered. 2009 has been long and difficult. We were lucky to have Grams with us but sad that Gramps was not here. Parker has been so awesome this year. He is really getting onto the holidays and understanding what they are all about. He can almost say the blessing for the lighting of the Chanukkah candles all by himself in Hebrew. Gramps would be so proud. Grams got out of the hospital on Sunday and we threw the Chanukkah celebration together quickly...including a change in venue to my Mom's house. Parker was an angel and so polite and thankful for the wonderful gifts he received. So here's to the end of Chanukkah 2009....up next Christmas. wishing all my friends a wonderful holiday season and the best of all things for 2010!

Parker's First "Sleepover"

So tonight we are watching my "nephew" Jack. My best friend Sandra had to work tonight and her husband is going out of town bright and early so Jack is sleeping over. Here are the boys all squeaky clean from the bath. They are in Parker's bed reading a story.

From the Mouths of babes

Parker has turned into quite the comedian lately....the best part is he doesn't even realize he is being funny. To him he's just speaking his mind. A few stories to brighten your day..........

Parker: "Mommy Claire (my niece) is like a monkey"
Me: "Why is Claire like a monkey?"
Parker: "Because she likes bananas"

Parker watches Mickey Mouse Clubhouse...on this particular morning Mickey and the gang are saving Goofy and Donald who are stuck on the mountain in a snow storm. They bring hot chocolate to them.

Parker: "Mommy here's some hot chocolate that I made for you"
Me: "Thanks baby. Its delicious would you like some?"
Parker: "Nope I'm a garbage man. We only drink coffee"

We have always played a little game when getting Parker ready for a bath. We always say "EEWWW those are some stinky pigs" and pretend to smell his feet. He finds this hilarious and has now started to ask us to smell his feet and then cracks up. Tonight before Tony bathed him.....

Parker: "Daddy smell my pigs."
Tony: "EEEWWW those are some stinky pigs"
Parker laughs and beings to undress further...
Parker: "Daddy, smell my butt"
OH LORD...we have created a monster

Kids say the darnedest things.

Soccer

So as most of you know Parker has been playing soccer this fall...and when I say playing I mean that he is on a team goes to soccer practice before the game and eats a snack after but very little actual "playing" has been going on. That is until last week. At last week's soccer game Parker played for a whole 5 minutes before being knocked down....albeit accidentally....by some other 3 or 4 year old and came off the field in tears. This week he played in the WHOLE game. He even fell down and got a mouth full of dirt and after rinsing ansd spiting he went back in. he then got knocked down a second time...got brushed off and went back in. Too bad soccer is over next week.....oh well here are the highlights.

Trick or Treat

So Halloween has come and gone. Fun was had by all...despite the terrible weather. We had lots of yummy treats and one big trick courtesy of my Gamecocks. I wonder if someone can explain to me how one team can play so well the entire season and then play like they did last night. It was almost like watching some other team play. Nonetheless we had a good night. Our friends Sandra and Brian came over with their little boy Jack...his FIRST bday is next week. Sandra and I have been friends sonce the 5thgrade. It was fun to hang out with our boys and trick-or-treat. My bro in law came over too. My sister is in Germany so he came and hung out with us before heading out with some friends for some adult style Halloween. he is a firefighter and wore his full turn out gear...Parker was in heaven. We had a big spaghetti dinner and Halloween cupcakes for dessert. YUM-O!!! Here are some pics from the night.

Pumpkin Picking

So today we drove 100 miles round trip to the infamous Burt's Pumpkin Farm in Dawsonville, GA. Parker had fun....he ran through the pumpkins all laying around and talked incessantly about riding on the hayride. Can we go now? So we get tickets for the ride and then he doesn't want to sit the hay....doesn't want to get dirty. I am afraid I have created this little boy who doesn't like to be dirty....but that's another topic for another day. Fun was had by all. The pumpkins are picked and soon will be carved. Will post more when they are ready but for now pics from our adventure.

Happy Birthday to ME!!!!!

The cake....it says Happy Birthday Janna

So today is my birthday. This morning I was given breakfast in bed....chocolate chip pancakes and a HUGE glass of milk...YUM! Then I watched some Playhouse Disney with Parker. My sister Leah came over a little later on in the morning. Parker took a nap so I watched my soap....Days of Our Lives and ate some lunch in peace. I showered and finally got dressed around 4 PM. For dinner we had pot roast which smelled yummy cooking in the crock pot all day...perfect dinner for this dreary weather. Parker and Tony got me a cake and even tried to write my name on it...see pic above. Then Parker wanted to play bowling on the Wii....so we all bowled 2 games. I won both....but Parker is not half bad. So overall a nice birthday. Happy Birthday to ME!!!!!

Happy Fall

Its October....where has this year gone? This is my favorite time of year for multiple reasons....

Reason #1 My birthday is in October (the 14th to be exact...in case you want to spoil me)...a day about me...that doesn't happen often in the life of a mom.

Reason #2 The most PERFECT weather imagine able has descended upon us...open the windows, take a nap on the couch with a breeze blowing over you, go to the park and not melt, jeans and a T shirt weather.....it is refreshing

Reason #3 Halloween....nothing is cuter than watching little kids dress up in the silliest, cutest outfits and roam the streets...mine of course will be a firefighter...I know y'all are shocked!

Hoping everyone is enjoying FALL along with me! We're headed to Bert's Pumpkin Farm in a few weeks...super fun!

From the Mouths of Babes

This just happened in my backyard. After a day full of golf watching at the Giles house Tony and Parker went out back after Phil won the Tour Championship feeling victorious and ready to do a little golfing of their own. Parker outs on his golf and gets out his clubs. I am sitting on the couch enjoying a movie when I hear a familiar sound....the sound of a golf ball hitting my fence....but the surprise was it wasn't Tony's ball....it was Parker's! So I out on my shoes and venture to the backyard to watch for myself. Parker swings and hits a few and then BAM! into the fence again. Wow he's pretty good. And he is so excited he makes all these faces and moves just like Tiger does when he hits a bad shot or a good shot...you all know what I mean...Tiger jumps and throws his arms in the air when he makes an awesome shot and throws his clubs on the ground when he misses. Let's just call Parker a mini Tiger in that respect. So Parker hits a few and misses the last one. He says "I lost" and frowns. Tony says..."You didn't lose. Try again." Parker says.."That's right Daddy...you lose all the time!" Kids!

Line it up

I am standing where Parker hit from...he is standing where the ball landed

FUN!

Parker and I ran errands today. We had the best time. We headed off to a doctor's appointment for me....no worries just a check up on my foot. He was such a good boy in the office. Then we headed to Gymboree...we were looking for some fire truck underwear....they were all out. I will order them online....he was very sad....the face he made was pitiful. Then off to Target...got him a few things to keep at Bubbe's and then he saw the mother load....a Little Einstein's DVD in which Rocket is a firetruck. Well you'd have thought he saw them standing right there in the store....he went crazy and then begged Bubbe to let him have the video today and then negotiated that it was early and the sun was still out and it wasn't dinner time so he had time to watch said video as soon as we came home. But not so fast...he also has recently become obsessed with overalls. Don't ask me why or ow....he has been dressing himself lately. This has become quite entertaining as he just picks out whatever he finds in his room. The other day he ventured into the bottom drawer of his dresser where I keep things that got missed to be packed up because the are too small and things that I have picked up on sale for the next years season that are too big. Well he found a pair of 24 month size overalls and put them on....needless to say they are about 3 inches too short...but he wore them 3 days in a row....inside only of course. So today at Target we got a new pair...ones that actually fit. When we got home he immediately put them on...changed his shirt and sat down to watch the movie....good grief...who knew overalls and a Little Einsteins video could make one little boy so happy....he grinned from ear to ear for 96 minutes.

It's Raining....

It's raining and it sucks. It has been raining for 3 days and it sucks. Keeping a 3 year old entertained inside for 3 days sucks....and thats all I have to say about that! Happy Friday!

Things I Am TOTALLY Loving Right Now

OK so I have been on a kick trying new things and enjoying the things I have always loved but maybe hadn't had in awhile...so here they are in no particular order.....

1. Dark Chocolate Reese's Peanut Butter Cups....if you like dark chocolate and you like reese'sthese are a must have...freeze them and they are even better.

2. Edy's Loaded Caramel Crunch Cone Ice Cream....YUM-O It is vanilla ice cream which normally I'm not that into....but then it has a TON of caramel swirl and chocolate covered sugar cone pieces in it. Totally Delish!

3. Scrubbing Bubbles Toilet Cleaning Gel. This little gem goes in your toilet bowl near where the water comes in to fill it up after you flush...it sticks to the actual bowl. Here's the best part...when you flush the water runs over it and it cleans the bowl but wait there's more....it smells so good....even if someone has just come out....you can't tell what they did in there...the bathroom smells clean and fresh all the time...get it at Walmart...its cheapest there!

4. Yankee Candle Autumn Leaves...I am ready for some cooler weather...like jeans and a T shirt weather....go to the park without melting weather....start running weather.

5. College Football....regardless of the devastating loss to GA, football season is one of my faves. So what the Gamecocks lost one...we'll finish the season 11-1 then. GO COCKS!!!!!!

So there you have it....a few of my fave things...for now

Nothing to Say

So I haven't posted in awhile....because I have nothing to say. Nothing new with us, nothing funny, nothing exciting....nothing. So here's a little taste of our boring life since we've been home from vacation. I have gone to work, gotten called off and called back in. Endured 5 crazy shifts of premie charge and one of ICU charge. I took care of a sick baby...and helped my pod mates keep their heads above the water. Drove to Huntsville on Saturday AM and drove back on Sat afternoon...all for my niece's 2nd birthday. She was more excited to see Parker and Picasso...the dog...then anyone else. Kids. I went to the podiatrist, and the grocery store and played firefighter in the backyard. So there you have it...BORING. But you know what? It's OK 2009 has been exciting enough.
And by the way FOOTBALL has started....YIPPIE! GO GAMECOCKS!

Kids Say the Darndest Things

Tony: "Parker....what did Daddy tell you about holding down the buttons on your garbage truck?"

Parker: "I'm holding it up not down"

Driving in the car.....
Parker: "Mommy can you undo my carseat so I can put my sunglasses on my shirt?"

Me: "No baby...that's dangerous...see Mommy is wearing her seat belt."

Parker: "But you took it off on the highway."

Me: "Well baby we're not on the highway"

Parker: "Are we on the low way?"

Disclaimer: I took off my seat belt on the highway on the way down to the beach so I could climb into the backseat and hang out with him

Tropical Storm Claudette

Crabby George
Our Family

the broken tree

We survived the tropical storm. And spent a very rainy day trying to keep a 3 yr old and a 2 yr old busy. We see the sun and now we can get busy having some fun on the beach. Here are some pictures. That tree broke off during the storm. It was pretty loud and it was throwing the beach chairs up against the house on the upper deck. The winds were up to 50 miles an hour and we got about 4 nches of rain. If thats a tropical storm I'd hate to be here during a hurricane. The only bonus is the beautful weather AFTER the storm. Not too hot and breezy! The crab is "Crabby George" Parker and Nannie caught him at the beach and brought him home.

Family Vacation Day One

So we made it to the beach safe and sound. The trip was easy. Parker was in heaven. Everyone should get a DVD player system in their car. Really it was awesome. He watched movies til lunch an the only noise we heard was giggling. Then we stopped for lunch...he ate...he pottied....he got in the car and he took a nap. When he woke up we were only 15 min from the beach house. Does it get better than that? Somehow I don't think so. So today we headed out to the beach early....because we heard the tropical storm was coming. We were on the beach at 830 AM and played in the sand. Then we came up to the house and played in the pool. Parker is a fish. He really is a good swimmer....I can hardly believe it. He jumps in and swims the whole pool. Enjoy a few pics...for now off to relax...the kids are in bed.

Happy Birthday Grandma!

Today is my grandma's 82nd birthday. We all went over to her house today to visit her. Parker had a good time because as usual he was the one who got gifts...not grandma. He did make her a card that he created using markers, stickers and pictures that he cut out of a magazine. This is one of his new favorite things to do....cut and paste. Here's a picture of my little man and my little Grams.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRAMS.....WE LOVE YOU!

Phone Calls From Home

A typical phone call from my sweet little angel
Me: "hello?"
Parker: "Word to your mother!"

Me: "Hey Doodlebug! How was your day?"
Parker: "Good how was your day? Are you on your way home?"

Me: "It's been a good day...not on my way yet though"
Parker; "I pooped in the potty all by myself!"

Me: "Great job Buddy...I love you"
Parker: "I love you! PEACE OUT!"

Me: "peace out Parker"
Seriously....when did my little boy become a rapper?

So Here Goes Nothing

Alright so I've taken the plunge. This is our blog.
Today we went to the pool and over to Bubbe's. She is moving on the 18th so this was the last time we would visit her at her house. She is all set to move into mom and dad's while we a re gone to the beach next week....her house is empty. I can hardly wait for her and Parker to have sleep overs there. When I was little I used to stay at home with my great grandma...Mawsy.... we would sort of babysit each other. She wasn't quite well enough to stay home alone and I wasn't quite old enough to stay home alone. So when Mom and Dad and Grams and Gramps had somewhere to go we would stay together. We slept in twin beds in her room and we would eat snacks in bed and watch TV. Parker will have his own room...but it will be nearly the same.
